Prof. Dr. Hristo Smolenov is a Bulgarian scientist, logician, and antiterrorism expert, born in 1954 in Plovdiv. He graduated from the English Language School in Sofia and went on to study at Lomonosov Moscow State University, completing his studies in 1980.
He defended his doctoral dissertation in 1982 and has worked at the Institute of Philosophy and the Mathematics Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. A recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship (1990–1991), he has served as visiting professor at the University of Montreal and the Catholic University of America in Washington.
As a specialist in logic, philosophy of science, and the methodology of science, Smolenov has dedicated decades to uncovering the mathematical and cosmic codes embedded in the world's oldest artefacts. In 2017, he was honoured with the title of Honorary Professor of the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy.
